Short conclusion

Competency

  • Highlight key words in the job advertisement. These will most likely be the competences evaluated during the interview.
  • Prepare topics you want to talk about. Think of projects and achievements that you can present yourself with.
  • Use The STAR Method. It is a great tool that will help you clearly and systematically describe your previous experiences and competences.

Motivation

  • Get to know the company. Find more information about their product, projects and competitors. This knowledge will come in handy during the interview.
  • Think of the Whys. Prepare yourself for the question of why you are applying for the position. Mention your motivation for working for the company you have chosen. Be specific.
  • Figure out what interests you. Write down the questions you want to ask in the interview. Express interest in job description, the tools used, the team, the vision, the values and the company culture.

Personality

  • Match your dress code to the company culture. Take inspiration from photos on their social media and company web. If you are unsure, ask the recruiter before the interview. Too formal can be detrimental.
  • Smile and maintain eye contact.
  • Be yourself. You want to work in a collective that fits your true vibe.
